Locums General Surgeon

Job Opportunity: General Surgeon at the VA in Fresno, CA

Location: VACCHCS Fresno

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

• Clinic Days: Mondays and Wednesdays (or mutually agreed alternative days)
• OR Days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (or mutually agreed alternative days)
• On-Call Coverage: 4:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday; 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays.

Direct Patient Care: Spend an estimated 90% of your time in direct patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Scope of Care: Provide comprehensive General Surgery care, including a full range of procedures as per VA Fresno privileges.
• Clinic and Surgical Duties: Be present and punctual for all scheduled clinics and surgeries. Your commitment to patient care will be evident through your physical presence at the clinic or OR at the scheduled start times.
• Operative Services: Deliver exceptional General Surgery services, performing a full range of procedures.
• Intraoperative Follow-up: Be present in the operating suite for all General Surgery procedures, ensuring the highest standards of care.
• Postoperative Follow-up: Conduct rounds on postoperative General Surgery patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and on the wards. Participate in morbidity and mortality conferences, providing necessary information for departmental reports.
• Call Coverage: Provide after-hours call from 4:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday, and offer 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays.
