1.) Full-time positions - 5 days per week with alternating weekends
2.) Part-time positions - up to (7) days within a two-week period. Weekend hours and weekday hours will be assigned
Position Summary : Must fulfill the goals and objectives of the nursing home in regard to resident rights, care and in the general working philosophy of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department, as well as serve to reflect professionally the mission statement of the facility.
Position Reports To : Housekeeping Manager
Position Description : The primary purpose of the job position is to clean and maintain the facility environment and equipment, and maintain quality housekeeping services throughout the facility, to assure that a successful housekeeping program is maintained at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Maintain the delivery of quality Housekeeping services.
- Receives and follows housekeeping schedule instructions as assigned. (e)
- Performs specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. (e)
- Cleans / polishes furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating / cooling units, etc. in resident rooms, recreational areas, etc., daily as instructed. (e)
- Cleans and washes, sanitizes; and / or polishes bathroom fixtures. Ensures that watermarks are removed from fixtures
- Cleans windows / mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance / exit ways. (e)
- Cleans floors to Include sweeping, dusting damp / wet mopping, disinfecting, etc. (NOTE : Ensure that appropriate caution / safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties.) (e)
- Cleans carpets, to include vacuuming and shampooing. (e)
- Cleans walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning disinfecting, deodorizing, etc. (e)
- Removes dirt, dust grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning / disinfecting solutions. (e)
- Cleans hallways, stairways and elevators- (e)
- Discards waste / trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner. (e)
- Ensures that work assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the workday. (e)
- Discards infectious wastes into appropriate containers. (e)
- Cleans vacant rooms as assigned.
- Performs isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control procedures. (e)
- Performs unscheduled Housekeeping tasks as directed.
- Ensures Housekeeping supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary. (e)
- Keeps immediate supervisor informed of supply needs. (e)
- Ensures that the facility and Its equipment is properly maintained for resident safety, comfort and convenience. (e)
- Reports equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible. (e)
- Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies (e)
- Assists others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested. (e)
Compliance with Facility and Departmental specific policies and procedures .
Ensures that Housekeeping schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area. (e)Coordinates daily Housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas. (e)Follows all established safety procedures and precautions when performing Housekeeping services. (e)Wears and / or uses safety equipment and supplies as necessitated. (e)Maintains assigned areas in a safe, clean and orderly environment. (e)Keeps you work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease / oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules / regulations are followed as all times, Refer to material safety data sheets (MSDS’s) when necessary. (e)Ensures that work / assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks and / or the end of the work day, etc.Knocks before entering a resident’s room. (e)Honors the residents’ personal and property rights. (e)Maintains confidentiality of residents per HIPAA guidelines and facility policy (e)Informs resident when is necessary to move his / her personal possessions. (e)Participate in and adhere to employee health, safety and security programs and activities.
Conducts all activities within established safety, security and infection control procedures and guidelines. (e)Operates equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers directions and facility procedures (e)Receives annual physical including appropriate screening for tuberculosis(s)Corrects unsafe or hazardous condition encountered, if unable to correct, report condition to immediate Supervisor upon discovery. (e)Responds to fire / disaster drills and emergencies. (e)Reports all accident and incidents to Supervisor immediately upon occurrence. (e)Observes and responds to all standing security precautions, devices and alerts as they pertain to work and common area. (e)Cooperates with investigations regarding employee health, safety programs and security programs. (e)Participate In mandatory in-service and Job training programs
Attends mandatory in-service, annually. (e)Attends in-service, workshops and seminars to further professional development.Other related duties and activities as may become necessary or as directed by the
Housekeeping Supervisor or designee .

High School or Trade School diploma.Ability to read write and speak the English language required, knowledge of other language helpful.Ability to use standard housekeeping equipment following safety precautions. (e)The ability to clean and sanitize all assigned areas.The ability to lift 10 to 15-pound buckets from cart to sink a minimum of 15 times a dayThe ability to push maid carts weighing up to 40 pounds, in and out of elevators and down hallways.The ability to bend at the knees, waist, and neck at least 50 times a day to allow mopping in resident areas.The ability to handle and mix chemicals safely and properly. (e)Must be able to respond to the paging system in the appropriate manner.Effective oral and written communication skills. (e)Setting :
Performs duties throughout facility (e)Must be able to push, and move heavy equipment, furniture and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. throughout the workday. (e)Frequently required to walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or control and to hear or talk. (e)Occasionally required to stand, sit, reach with hand and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch or crawl and taste or smell. (e)Occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.Must be able to sit, stand, and walk. (e)Must be able to climb, stretch, bend, and lift throughout the day in order to accomplish Housekeeping assignments. (e)Must be able to climb stairs in event of fire. (e)Must possess sight / hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately, so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. (e)Must possess specific visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
