This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Central Office, 403 Stoney Landing Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

As the Administrative Assistant, working under limited supervision, performs duties to aid and support the administrative duties of the clinical services, medical services, and front desk teams. Responsibilities for the Administrative Assistant include :

  • Performs various administrative assistant office duties including answering phones, checking messages, returning patient phone calls, making appointment reminder calls, inputting on spreadsheets, generating reports, assisting with scheduling and follow up appointments, coordinating with other staff, documentation such as completing C-20s or other required forms, assisting with collecting fees, and other general receptionist and scheduling duties.
  • Coordinates with clinical, medical, and nursing staff to support client medication and other treatment needs. Under direction of Center prescribers, performs prior authorization process(es) for patient prescriptions. Completes Patience Assistance Program applications and documentation for Center patients. Includes coordination with prescribers, completion and filing of all relevant documentation, communication with pharmaceutical companies, coordination with Center clinicians and clinical support staff. Creates, inputs, and maintains tracking spreadsheets to ensure timely medication access.
  • Performs all activities necessary to establish and maintain accurate, comprehensive storage, handling, and control of all PAP medications. Includes receipt, unpacking, labeling, logging, tracking, inventorying of PAP medications on daily basis. Assists nursing staff with general inventory checks as requested.
  • Complies with training requirements set forth by BCMHC and BHDD / OMH. These may include but not be limited to SCEIS trainings, AAA driver improvement, QI in-services, and MAPS. Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Adheres to Center, DMH and State Corporate Compliance policies, procedures and regulations. Helps ensure service area is CARF accredited. Maintains patient confidentiality as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum and additional requirements include :

  • A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
  • Preferred qualifications are :

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • Post hire, employees must :

  • Have computer knowledge / experience.
