Description :

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing mammography examinations following ACR requirements.

This position assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic guided procedures.

Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in a professional manner.

Performs mammographic imaging for breast needle localization procedures and stereotactic procedures, including set up and clean up.

Assists in procedures using ultrasound guidance.

Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operates equipment for specific procedures.

Identifies patient films with the correct name and x-ray number and correctly marks film as to the side of the patient.

Develops exposed x-ray film using processing methods.

Completes patient requisitions with initials, date, number, and size of films.

Assists with quality control procedures and documentation, including phantom image testing and processor quality control.

Assists in breast self-examination instruction and patient education, including pre and post-procedure instructions.

Prepares cases to be imaged including charts and films.

Assists with compiling statistics for patient follow-ups and tracking of necessary procedures.

Documents procedures related to quality control and assurance in compliance with relevant standards.

Documents pertinent information regarding patients in the chart.

Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care specific to these needs.

Communicates with patients and caregivers at their appropriate developmental and educational levels.

Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
