Position Overview
The Field Engineer is responsible for managing large and complex construction work at the project site to ensure operations run safely, smoothly, and effectively. This position has a wide range of job responsibilities, depending on the area of specialization. These duties might include working on road, bridge, building, steel structures, or other large projects.
Essential Functions
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers and Project Engineers to issue various submittals and requests for information (RFIs) to the client.
- Inspects installed equipment and technologies. Solves issues that may arise.
- Directs foremen or workers on-site
- Conducts research and accurately reports on project status
- Performs quality control inspections and checks work for compliance with contract documents
- Verifies proper materials are used, and that the installations meet project timelines and requirements
- Affirms safety compliance and enforces proper protocols and PPE on site
- May oversee project budget and communication
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related fieldA minimum of one (1) year of previous experience as a field engineer or similar roleWell-versed in technical aspects of field projects, including machinery, equipment, and construction processesThorough understanding of safety guidelines (OSHA statutes)Attention to detailOutstanding communication skillsAn analytical mind and strong problem-solving abilityAbility to work in adverse weather and occasional overtime and weekendsWorking Conditions
Travel - This position is based out of the Ames Construction area office in Salt Lake City, UT. This position requires 100% in-person support.Construction site environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb.
