Atlas Data Storage is revolutionizing the field of information technology by innovating DNA Data Storage solutions. At Atlas we are developing a massively parallel high-throughput semiconductor based information storage technology by leveraging the unique properties of synthetic DNA. We are seeking a Research Associate (RA) who will be involved in research and development activities towards developing the company's proprietary Enzymatic DNA synthesis on semiconductor chips. The position will support development of surface chemistry, semiconductor processes as well as on-chip DNA synthesis. This is a full-time bench position and the person will be expected to work closely with other scientists and engineers of the group to provide support for planning and execution of experiments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support and contribute towards the research and development of a custom high-throughput DNA synthesis platform for DNA data storage
Running a variety of DNA based custom biochemical assays
Method development of unique biochemical assays and sample analysis of various biomolecules of interest
Preparing stock reagents and buffers for in-house DNA synthesis processes and operating synthesizers
Working with various biochemical and organic chemistry based automated liquid handlers, surface analysis and microscopy tools
Performing standard biochemical analytical assays such as hybridization, qPCR, DNA sequencing etc
Running and troubleshooting analytical tools for assessment of quality of oligonucleotides
Perform characterization of buffers and reagents by using metrics such as pH, moisture content measurement, purity etc
Maintaining and troubleshooting analytical tools like HPLC, LCMS, capillary electrophoresis tools
Data recording and tracking the quality of reagents, generating scientific reports using laboratory data analysis and lab management software
Developing standard operating procedures to transition workflow efforts to production
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, bioengineering / chemical engineering or a related area, 2-5 years work experience working in industrial or clinical settings is desirable
Pipetting and wet lab bench work experience is required
Experience with one or more of DNA analysis techniques like running PCR, Sequencing, gel electrophoresis, UV-vis measurements, HPLC, LCMS is desirable
Experience with fluorescence microscopy and other surface characterization techniques is desirable
Experience with organic chemistry based analytical assays is desirable
Experience in operating automated liquid handlers such as Hamiltons is desirable
Biochemistry / Engineering knowledge is desirable
