Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Systems SW Analyst – Systems Analyst (25-488) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. This role, located in Colorado Springs, CO, is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Position Overview :

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides a key operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, providing an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a crucial component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience solving complex technical problems with innovative and creative solutions , operating independently, and driving the resolution of issues to align with mission objectives.

Essential Functions :

As a Senior Principal Systems Software Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering advanced analysis solutions to support missile defense and space operations. Specifically, you will :

Conduct technical analysis of real-world data related to Missile Defense and Space Domain Awareness

Develop, implement, and refine complex algorithms to analyze large-scale simulation and real-world data sets

Work cohesively within an Agile Scrum team to design and complete tasks tied to program objectives

Proactively interpret data to support features, designs, and estimated future states of ballistic missile threats or systems

Actively update and improve existing operational algorithms based on emerging or new datasets

Utilize knowledge of defense systems to develop insights into missile defense concepts and Battle Management / Command and Control (BM / C2) protocols

Coordinate with stakeholders and represent the organization during customer engagements, providing technical expertise and insights when required

Basic Qualifications :

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience solving complex technical problems with innovative and creative solutions , operating independently, and driving the resolution of issues to align with mission objectives.

A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc.) from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 4 years of relevant work experience

Active DoD Top Secret Clearance is required at the start of employment . Candidates without the necessary clearance will not be considered

Candidates must demonstrate strong technical skills to support predictive analysis of ballistic missile threats and similar systems. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is required :

Analysis and performance characterization of large-scale, complex system simulations , particularly in the realm of ballistic missile defense , weapon systems , and command and control systems

Smoothed work processes with tools such as MATLAB for handling large data arrays and system logic validation

Proficiency in Unix / Linux environments and workflows aligned with Agile Scrum methodologies

An understanding of missile defense elements , to include systems such as C2BMC, AN / TPY-2, LRDR, BOA, SBIRS, GMB, Aegis BMD, PATRIOT, or related concepts

Preferred Qualifications :

Master's Degree in Systems Engineering

Certification : INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification

Certification : Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)

The following skills and experience are highly desired to excel in this position :

Strong background in mathematics and physics to support algorithm development and real-world data interpretation

Theoretical or practical knowledge of ballistic missile and non-ballistic missile defense concepts, space domain awareness, and broader Missile Defense System (MDS) operations

Experience with scenario generation, predictive modeling, or advanced simulation techniques for defense systems engineering

Expertise in defense communication systems and their associated roles in national security operations

Additional Northrop Grumman Information :

Primary Level Salary Range : $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
