Position Title : Facilities Maintenance Assistant
Reports to : Director of Facilities Maintenance
FLSA Status : Exempt (Professional)
Role : Individual Contributor
General Description
Assists with day-to-day maintenance and operations of VRE facilities and overseeing contracts for facilities maintenance services and activities. THIS IS A FULL - TIME TEMPORARY ROLE FOR UP TO ONE YEAR - SUBJECT TO REAUTHORIZATION BASED ON BUSINESS NEED AND CEO APPROVAL.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates with maintenance, custodial and landscaping contractors to ensure proper conditions and cleanliness of facilities to VRE standards
- Responds to emergency and non-routine issues in the field as directed
- Attends field meetings with maintenance and custodial contractors, miscellaneous contractors, utility staff, etc. as directed
- Observes snow and ice removal activities and reports facility conditions to Manager of Facilities Maintenance
- Performs periodic inspections of stations and other facilities
- Performs minor repairs and work tasks as needed
- Coordinates the maintenance of VRE-owned vehicles
- Performs quality assurance and ensures maintenance vendors / contractors fulfill contractual obligations
- Coordinates the procurement of essential materials or equipment required to maintain facility readiness, including yards
- Provides general support and performs administrative tasks and activities to support the facilities maintenance department and staff
- Assists in the review and processing of contractor invoices
- Enters requisitions in VRE’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Promotes and contributes to a positive customer service experience

Associates degree in Project or Construction Management of related technical field requiredExperience in facilities management, construction, engineering or a relevant building tradeAdditional directly related experience may be substituted for the educational requirementExperience in transit and / or rail operations preferredAdditional Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and always maintain a safe driving record during employment with VREAbility to work the flexible hours demanded by a transit operation environmentWorking Conditions / Environment
