Office Coordinator - Labor and Delivery Services - Obstetrics
Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, and policies and procedures, the OB and Surgical Office Coordinator functions independently, serving as an assistant to the Women’s and Children’s service and surgical line. The individual effectively coordinates communication, both verbal and written, and performs a variety of secretarial tasks in support of department operations.
Education : Associates degree or specialized training with business-oriented courses preferred.
Licensure / Certification : Current BLS required. BSHA preferred.
Experience : Previous clerical / customer service experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Minimum of 1 year of equivalent work experience is preferred. Surgical Technician experience is preferred.
Skills : Must have excellent “customer service” and communication skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Must demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes, be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress. Must have excellent time management, prioritization, organization, communication and administrative skills. Must have broad knowledge of computer skills in word processing, databasing, including Microsoft office products : work, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as EMR (electronic medical records) experience are required. Expectedly typing, spelling, grammar, composition, and common skills are required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. The OB and Surgical Services Coordinator must work rapidly under stressful conditions with frequent interruptions. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
