About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Pediatric Psych

Profession : Registered Nurse

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required. Pediatric behavioral health experience preferred.

License : State License required.

Certifications : BLS, MOAB (obtained onsite).

Must-Have :

• De-escalation experience.
• Experience with physical restraints.
• Ability to run group sessions.
• Comfortable with medication passes and documentation.

Description :

Start date needed is December 8, 2025.

Pediatric patients aged 5-18 years old will be treated.

Common pediatric diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria.

Adult patients, aged 18 and older, will also be treated.

Common adult diagnoses include schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders.

Medically cleared patients from emergency department will be admitted, including both voluntary and involuntary admissions.

Seclusion rooms may be used as necessary.

Occasionally, substance use disorder or detoxing patients will be seen, but they must be medically cleared.

Traditional medical and psychiatric care will be provided along with specialized therapies such as pet therapy and group sessions.

Patient ratios are 1 Nurse to 5-6 patients during the day and 1 Nurse to 13 patients at night, supported by psych techs.

Support on the unit includes a nurse supervisor available during evenings and weekends, as well as a nurse manager on day shifts.

There is also a nurse practitioner onsite until 4 PM and an available psychiatrist for daily rounds.

Charting is conducted using Cerner, and medication dispensing is managed with Pyxis.

Travelers may have the opportunity to act as charge nurse, but it is not required.

Weekend rotations are every other weekend, and working on holidays will be expected in rotation.

Approval of time off is allowed for up to 7 days, but may need to be extended if unable to work all shifts within a week.

Scrub color can be any solid, professional color.

Heavy snow conditions are expected during winter months.
