Parking Facility Worker
The Dane County Department of Administration in Madison, WI has a current vacancy for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Parking Facility Worker. The shift for this position is typically Monday - Friday 1 : 00pm - 9 : 30pm. This position may also work holidays, weekends, and special events.

Definition
Under general supervision, on an assigned shift at the Dane County Parking Ramp, to assist in the operation of a large parking facility and to do related work as required.
Examples of duties
Patrols facilities to check for parking violations and prevent vandalism. Collects parking fees. Issues tickets for violations. Checks permit parking areas for proper use of parking permits. Checks malfunction of parking equipment. Repairs equipment involving disassembly, lubrication, adjustment and re-assembly. Performs building maintenance including cleaning floors, stairways and restrooms. Operates light and medium sized equipment. Replaces light fixtures and equipment. Performs painting and minor repair of motorized equipment. Maintains paved areas including removal of snow and ice. Assists the public concerning complaints, violations, locating misplaced vehicles and other tasks as needed.
Education, training and experience
A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years' work experience operating light and medium equipment for snow removal and performance of minor repairs and maintenance. Experience performing parking enforcement and handling money.
Certifications / licenses
Must have (or be eligible for) a valid Wisconsin Driver's License. Required possession of a valid Wisconsin Class "B" commercial driver's license with airbrake endorsement at time of application. Everyone who has a commercial driver's license ("CDL") must be registered in the US Department of Transportation's Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. Registration is available at https : / / clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov / register. Applicants must pass drug / alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment has been made.
Special requirements
Must be available for work on any shift. Must be available nights, holidays and weekends during snow emergencies and special events. Safety shoes required. Plus requires eye, ear and glove protection when the job dictates it.

Physical and environmental work requirements
This position is active for the entire shift (standing, walking, stooping, twisting, lifting, bending, pushing, reaching, climbing, crouching and crawling). Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. May be required to operate heavy equipment, move furniture and work from safety ladders. Ability to use hands / feet for repetitive single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling and operating controls and equipment. Incumbent will work in an outdoor covered parking ramp and is therefore subject to a wide variety of conditions that will change daily. On a daily basis exposure to temperature variations or extremes, chemicals, odors, toxic agents, noise, vibrations, wetness, machinery and / or dust may cause discomfort but poses little risk of injury. On an infrequent basis, exposure to blood and / or body fluids.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Knowledge of parking ordinances and regulations. Possession of effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to make repairs to parking equipment and other simple mechanical equipment. Ability to do heavy cleaning work and to operate motorized equipment. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and patrons of parking ramp.
