We are seeking a dessert aficionado with a passion for creating sweet masterpieces to join the team at a local Convention Center as Pastry Chef. The Pastry Chef will lead the pastry team in crafting imaginative and delicious desserts that will leave our customers wanting more If you have a culinary education, 3- 5 years of experience in a high production kitchen and a love for baking, we are interested in talking to you about this exciting opportunity! Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan, participate, and supervise the production, preparation and presentation of baked goods, desserts, pastries, and confectionary with a focus on banquet production.
  • Understand and appreciate the subtleties of flavor pairings and different tastes, and have a good aesthetic sense for food and pastry presentation.
  • Provide a safe, sanitary work environment, which conforms to all standards and regulations and achieves profitable, competitive quality products.
  • Supervise and participate in the production, preparation, and presentation of all baked goods and pastries for unit as assigned by the Executive Chef and / or Executive Sous Chef to ensure that a consistent quality product is produced which conforms to all established standards.
  • Ability to understand and control a P&L (e.g. controlling labor costs, controlling food cost).
  • Interview, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, resolve problems, provide open communication, recommend discipline as appropriate, and perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications
  • Requires 3-5years of experience in a related position
  • Requires 2-3 years of post-high school education or equivalent experience
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession
  • Requires experiential knowledge of management of people and / or problems
  • Requires oral, reading and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work an event based schedule which will include days, evenings, weekends and holidays
