Summary : Village for Vets is seeking qualified candidates to join our SSVF (Supportive Services for Veteran Families) Program in Los Angeles as a Program Coordinator. SSVF is a program that serves Veterans and their families experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness. As part of the SSVF team, the Program Coordinator serves as a subject-matter expert in SSVF regulations, case management best practices, and documentation standards. Working closely with the Program Director and Program Supervisors, this role helps translate program policies into practice, strengthens staff performance, and supports accountability and consistency across teams.
Responsibilities :
- Support daily program operations across both SSVF teams to ensure services are delivered consistently and in alignment with SSVF regulations and agency policies
- Serve as a point of escalation for complex client situations, eligibility questions, and policy interpretation
- Help identify operational gaps and recommend improvements to workflows, communication, and service delivery systems
- Provide leadership support and operational continuity when supervisors or management staff are unavailable
- Support interviewing, training and onboarding of new staff
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and skill-building support to case managers
- Reinforce consistent case management practices across teams
- Assist with regular file reviews and documentation audits to ensure compliance with SSVF, VA, and agency requirements
- Identify trends, compliance risks, and documentation gaps, and work with leadership and staff to implement corrective actions
- Support data integrity and outcome tracking efforts
- Assist with the review and approval of Integrify check requests and participant financial assistance documentation in accordance with SSVF guidelines
- Work closely with Program Supervisors and the Program Director to align staff performance, program priorities, and compliance expectations
- Participate in leadership meetings, case conferences, and program planning discussions
- Serve as a communication bridge between frontline staff and leadership
Essential Skills :
Strong working knowledge of SSVF regulations and housing-focused case managementUnderstanding of Housing First, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and crisis intervention strategiesAbility to analyze documentation and identify compliance risksStrong coaching and mentorship skillsExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to exercise sound judgment and take initiative in a fast-paced environmentRequirements :
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferredMinimum 3 years of experience in social services or a related fieldExperience with unhoused populations and / or Veterans strongly preferredPrior experience in SSVF or similar federally funded housing programs preferredVeteran of the U.S. military or military-connected family member preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office and HMIS or comparable databasesValid driver’s license, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and acceptable driving recordEmployment eligibility verification requiredEQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER : Village for Vets is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
