Summary

This position is as an Assistant 4's Teacher to substitute for a staff member that will be on leave for the months of January, February and March 2026. The Assistant Teacher will assist the Classroom Teacher in delivering instruction, preparing the classroom at the start of the school day and tidying up the classroom at the end of the instructional day. Additional duties include supervising children during centers and outside time and accompanying children with the Classroom Teacher once per month to chapel on the other side of the building for a 15-minute program. Ideal candidate will model Christian values such as kindness and showing respect for others. The position is for Monday through Thursday 8 : 15am-2 : 45pm and Fridays from 8 : 15am-1 : 15pm . The instructional day is from 8 : 30am to 12 : 30pm. The start of the day is prepping for the day ahead. After 12 : 30pm dismissals, the 4's Assistant Teacher joins another Teacher to co-lead 3's and 4's aftercare.

Duties

  • Experience working with preschool-aged children.
  • Assist Lead Teacher in providing instruction according to lesson plans for a classroom of approximately twelve 4–5-year-olds.
  • Help prepare classroom for the start of the day by getting materials ready and making sure room is clean for student arrival.
  • Greeting and briefly communicating with families at drop-off as needed.
  • Saying good-bye and briefly communicating with families at dismissal. Making sure adults picking up children are approved pick-up people. Making sure students have all of their belongings and they are sent home at the end of the day.

Requirements

  • Be aware of any food allergies for students and follow all individual health protocols. School is nut and peanut-free. Be vigilant in making sure nut products are not brought into school.
  • Ability to juggle fast-paced environment at busy times of the day (arrival / dismissal / mealtime).
  • Ability to take direction from Lead Teacher.
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms, including following cleaning practices implemented by the school. Training provided. Custodians do deep cleaning nightly.
  • Excellent communication skills, including reading, writing and speaking.
  • Maintain confidentiality for all students and co-workers.
  • Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable.
  • Certification in child CPR is a plus.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from our school and arrive to work on time as per schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Willingness to seek-out additional Professional Development opportunities on best practices in Early Childhood Education.
  • Ability to be a team-player, learn from teaching staff, ask questions and be flexible.
  • Ability to multi-task, meeting the individual needs of multiple children throughout the day.
  • Complete a NJ State background check and fingerprinting and provide negative TB test results.
  • Nice To Haves

  • BS / BA in Early Childhood Education (earned or in pursuit of) or a related field will be considered first.
  • Early Childhood CDA.
  • Certification in pediatric CPR.
  • Experience working with preschoolers in a licensed childcare facility or in a public school through Grade 3.
