The Department of Exceptional Education is seeking a caring and qualified candidate for an itinerant Communication Paraprofessional position. The successful applicant will provide small group and one-on-one instruction under the guidance of the Speech-Language Pathologist, including data collection on student performance. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in Communication Science Disorders or a related field, current enrollment in a Master’s program for Communication Science Disorders, Certification as a Speech Language Assistant, or a minor in Communication Science Disorders with a related bachelor’s degree.

Essential Functions Assist students with physical needs including feeding, toileting, lifting, and mobility.

Assist students with health care procedures, including hygiene and medications.

Provide small group and individual instruction based on lesson plans.

Monitor students before and after school and during transitions.

Support classroom management activities to promote effective learning.

Assist with student assessments and recordkeeping.

Help develop and organize instructional materials.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and / or Experience Minimum of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college coursework with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from an accredited institution, or

High school diploma / GED and passing the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment, with a valid paraprofessional certificate.
