Responsibilities

CAAs and CRNAs are highly skilled health professionals working under the supervision of licensed anesthesiologists to implement anesthesia care plans. They operate within the anesthesia care team environment as described by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). All Anesthetists have a premedical background, a baccalaureate degree, and complete a comprehensive graduate-level didactic and clinical program. They are extensively trained in delivering and maintaining quality anesthesia care and advanced patient monitoring techniques. The goal of Anesthetist education is to transform qualified students into competent healthcare practitioners practicing within the anesthesia care team.

Qualifications

Certified Anesthesia Assistant

  • Holds current active state licensure as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in Georgia and complies with applicable state requirements.
  • Graduated with a Master’s degree in Anesthesia.
  • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the required limits.
  • Demonstrates current competency in clinical responsibilities.
  • Capable of performing clinically as an anesthetist regularly in the facility setting.
  • Proficient in operating, using, and interpreting data from various equipment to provide anesthesia and perioperative care, ensuring patient safety and wellbeing under direct care.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with clinical staff and other disciplines.
  • Knowledgeable about providing care suitable to the patient population(s) served.
  • Understands growth and development principles across the lifespan and can assess data relevant to patient needs based on age and population.
  • Knowledgeable in infection prevention and control techniques.
  • Capable of maintaining confidential records.
  • Able to implement and follow facility policies and procedures.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

  • Holds current active RN licensure in Georgia and complies with applicable state requirements.
  • Graduated from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.
  • Certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the required limits.
  • Demonstrates current competency in clinical responsibilities.
  • Capable of performing clinically as a nurse anesthetist regularly in the facility setting.
  • Proficient in operating, using, and interpreting data from various equipment to provide anesthesia and perioperative care, ensuring patient safety under direct care.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with clinical staff and other disciplines.
  • Knowledgeable about providing care suitable to the patient population(s) served.
  • Understands growth and development principles across the lifespan and can assess data relevant to patient needs based on age and population.
