Summary
The Associate Director, Cash Posting and Correspondence plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the accurate and timely posting of payments and handling of payer correspondence for a high-volume genetic testing laboratory. This position ensures the integrity of financial data, supports denial resolution efforts, and drives process improvements across cash application workflows. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in laboratory billing, payer remittance processing, and correspondence management, with a strong understanding of genetic testing reimbursement.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the cash posting and correspondence teams, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- Oversee daily operations related to payment posting, including electronic remittance advice (ERA), manual payments, and adjustments.
- Monitor and resolve discrepancies in payment postings, including underpayments, overpayments, and misapplied funds.
- Ensure proper handling and routing of payer correspondence, including denial letters, requests for additional information, and audit notifications.
- Collaborate with denials and follow-up teams to support resolution of payment issues and improve reimbursement outcomes.
- Develop and maintain SOPs for cash posting and correspondence workflows, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
- Analyze cash posting metrics and correspondence trends to identify areas for improvement and report findings to senior leadership.
- Support system enhancements and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and internal audit requirements.
People Manager

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Accounting, Business, or related field or commensurate experience.510 years of experience in medical billing, cash posting, and payer correspondence, preferably in a laboratory or genetic testing environment.Strong understanding of remittance processing, EOB / ERA interpretation, and reconciliation practices.Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in billing systems, clearinghouses, and financial reporting tools.Physical Demands
