The expected number of patients treated per day is 8 to 10. Only one therapist will be present per day. Common diagnoses include orthopedic conditions such as total joints and neurological conditions such as strokes. Occasional cases may involve brain injuries, but traumatic brain injuries are not seen. The therapy setting includes acute inpatient and swing bed care. The therapist may need to float to other locations if the census is low. Experience in acute inpatient or rehabilitation is required, with a preference for first-time travelers. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. A manager will be present on each shift for support. Rehabilitation aides or COTAs are not part of the staffing model. Shifts are five 8-hour days, typically scheduled from 8 : 30 AM to 5 : 00 PM. The schedule does not include self-scheduling options. Holiday coverage may be required. Scrubs are permitted but must not match the colors of other departments. Two to three days of department-specific orientation are usually provided.
