Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) and Counter small Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-sUAS) Program Manager
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) and Counter small Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-sUAS) Program Manager to the 628th Security Forces Squadron. As such, provide technical expertise, expert guidance and comprehensive advice to Security Forces and installation-level leadership on sUAS and C-sUAS readiness, training, risk management, and integrated defense capabilities. Administer all sUAS and C-sUAS software, databases, and maintain accountability of related equipment, certifications, and training. Manage sUAS and C-sUAS standards and evaluations program and provide readiness determinations for Security Forces members.
Duties include :
- Manages small Unmanned Aerial Systems and small Unmanned Aerial program for the Security Forces Squadron and performs as a subject matter expert for all assigned small Unmanned Aerial Systems and small Unmanned Aerial Systems platforms.
- Serve as the training authority and expert on all matters involving modernization and programming of Small Unmanned Aerial Systems and small Unmanned Aerial Systems.
- Conducts long-term planning, workload management, functional / technical advice and guidance, and continuity of operations for the unit-level sUAS and C-sUAS program.
- Manages all sUAS and C-sUAS program software and equipment logistics. Perform on-hand accountability and record keeping of program-related equipment which requires operating Government Owned Vehicles (GOV) as part of assigned duties.

Travel may include overnight stays.DoD Security Physical Security Certification conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF / AA) or their delegated security career field representative.This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Expert knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials and equipment associated with aerial surveillance sUAS and C-sUAS programs.Expert knowledge of military, Federal Aviation Administration or International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sUAS regulations and operating procedures, expert knowledge of flight operations (manned or unmanned) and working knowledge of fixed and deployable C-sUAS equipment and technology is critical to the successful performance of the work.Expert knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, and procedures governing the conduct of Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations and the separation of aircraft in terminal radar approach control and control tower operations, and of the functional and operational limitations of ATC equipment such as : radar systems, navigational aids, weather indicators, remote status indicators, radios, landlines, recording equipment, ATC simulation systems.Comprehensive knowledge of OSD, AF, USNORTHCOM and other COCOM sUAS and C-sUAS regulations, policy, directives / instructions and guidance, and the relationship of the various DoD entities involved in overall planning and execution of military operations and evaluations, as well as a working knowledge of joint and allied services military organizations, procedures, and policy as related to sUAS and C-sUAS operations.Skill in review and analysis techniques and methods to appraise assigned aerial surveillance programs or projects. Identify needs and solutions; develop goals, policies, and procedures; monitor progress; and evaluate success.Skill in application of aerial surveillance training techniques and principles in order to both help develop training operators acquire knowledge in operation of sUAS and C-sUAS systems as well as develop additional competent trainers for the same purpose.Ability to plan, organize, and lead others in studies or projects, clearly and cogently present data and recommendations. and advocate to leadership for acceptance and implementation of recommendations where proposals involve unprecedented programs where little, or no guidance exist and where substantial resources or extensive changes in established concepts and procedures.
