Account Executive
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Account Executive to lead client relationships and drive business growth through innovative merchandising and sales strategies for major national retailers. This role is ideal for experienced professionals who have a proven background in retail buying, category management, or product development across high-volume categories such as Hardlines, Softlines, Home, Housewares, Seasonal, or Toys. This is a highly visible position with significant growth opportunities within the sales organization.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Team Leadership and Collaboration : Lead and mentor a high-performing account team, which may include Associate Account Executives and Merchandising Administrative Associates.
- Market and Trend Analysis : Conduct continuous competitive research and analyze product performance and consumer insights to identify market opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
- Product Development and Merchandising : Partner with internal product development and sourcing teams to curate compelling assortments tailored to retail partners, ensuring alignment with emerging market trends and customer needs.
- Client Engagement and Sales Strategy : Build and maintain strong relationships with key buyers and decision-makers at national retailers. Deliver persuasive presentations that showcase innovative product solutions and drive mutual business growth.
- Data-Driven Decision Making : Review sell-through data, consumer insights, and competitor analyses to optimize product offerings, manage inventory flow, and maximize overall revenue.
- Marketing and Sales Execution : Oversee purchase orders, packaging approvals, third-party testing, and cross-functional communication across domestic and international teams to ensure timely product delivery.
- Industry Expertise : Stay current with emerging trends, trade publications, and industry shifts to maintain a competitive edge for the client's business.
Experience and Qualifications :
Proven experience in merchandising, retail buying, or category management is required.Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills demonstrated at the corporate retail buyer level.Leadership experience managing or mentoring cross-functional teams.Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex market data into actionable sales strategies.Excellent communication and presentation skills are mandatory.Direct experience in categories such as Hardlines, Softlines, Home, Housewares, Seasonal, Toys, or Health and Beauty.Must be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally (approximately 20% of the time) for client meetings and trade shows.Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to) : $80,000.00 - $110,000.00
