Internal Construction Inspector
The Internal Construction Inspector plays a critical role within the Facilities Operations organization by ensuring that Capital Improvement projects executed by General Contractors (GCs), administered by the Project Implementation team, meet the highest standards of quality, adherence to specifications, and constructability. This position serves as the primary liaison between the Project Implementation Team and Facilities Operations, ensuring seamless transition and optimal long-term maintainability of newly constructed or renovated facilities. The Inspector will proactively identify potential issues before construction via 30 / 60 / 90 Design Reviews and during construction that could impact future maintenance activities, ensuring the Facilities Operations team is set up for success upon project completion and acceptance.
Responsibilities
- Participate in 30%, 60%, and 90% design review meetings for upcoming capital projects.
- Provide valuable input and feedback from a constructability, maintainability, and operational perspective, anticipating potential challenges during construction and identifying opportunities to optimize long-term facility performance.
- Review design documents (drawings, specifications, narratives) for clarity, completeness, code compliance, and alignment with Facilities Operations team needs and standards.
- Highlight potential issues related to access for maintenance, equipment placement, material selection, system integration, and future expansion or modification.
- Collaborate with design consultants, project managers, and Facilities Operations team members to incorporate feedback and ensure designs are practical, efficient, and cost-effective from a life-cycle perspective.
- Conduct regular on-site inspections of capital projects performed by General Contractors, verifying adherence to approved plans, specifications, codes, and industry best practices.
- Monitor the quality of materials, workmanship, and installation for all trades, including but not limited to structural, architectural, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing), electrical, fire life safety, and civil works.
- Identify and document, via Procore, any deviations, deficiencies, or non-conformances, and collaborate with the General Contractors via Project Managers to ensure timely and effective corrective actions.
- Witness and verify critical installations, testing, and commissioning activities (e.g., pressure tests, equipment start-ups, functional performance tests).
- Review and approve materials submittals, shop drawings, and RFI responses for compliance with design intent and maintainability.
- Act as the primary advocate for the Facilities Operations team's interests throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify and report on aspects of construction that may impact future preventative maintenance.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00 / yr.
