NSI is seeking a Manufacturing Specialist – Tooling & Equipment Development who will be responsible for leading the specification, design, and implementation of tooling and equipment used in the production of electrical connector products.
This role focuses on the practical application of tool and die experience to improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and safety.
This is a remote role based out of the Odessa, FL facility. Responsibilities :
- Specify, design, and assist in sourcing tooling, dies, and equipment for component manufacturing.
- Evaluate production processes and recommend improvements in tool design, material flow, and equipment utilization.
- Develop and maintain cost and lead-time estimates for tooling and equipment.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to define production workflows and layout.
- Support installation, setup, and validation of new manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling and process issues to minimize downtime.
- Document tooling standards, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in tooling performance, process reliability, and safety.
Requirements :
Minimum 10 years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker or Die Builder supporting production tooling and process development.Demonstrated ability to specify and evaluate tooling and production equipment.Strong understanding of metal forming, stamping, and machining processes.Experience with production layout, workflow, and process improvement.Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments.Experience in precision metal manufacturing environments.Familiarity with CAD tools for reviewing designs and layouts (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.Exposure to automation or semi-automated manufacturing processes.Combination of office, shop floor, and vendor site environments.Frequent travel required for vendor visits or equipment installations. _______________ _ _ _ _ _ _ Benefits :
