Job description

We are seeking a Process Engineer to support an Alarm Rationalization Project at a pharmaceutical manufacturing site. This initiative aims to optimize alarm systems across critical equipment including HVAC systems, refrigerators, freezers, and batch-specific assets such as fermenters. The goal is to establish a robust, site-wide response protocol for all relevant alarms quality, safety, and nuisance—while eliminating non-value-add alerts.

Key Responsibilities :

Equipment Assessment

  • Capture the “as-is” alarm state for ~1000 pieces of equipment.
  • Document alarm types and set points for both continuous and batch-specific systems.

Change Control Implementation

  • Support the formal change control process for alarm updates and rationalization.
  • Collaborate with site stakeholders to align alarm response protocols.
  • Alarm Optimization

  • Identify and eliminate non-value-add alarms (e.g., those not tied to safety, product output, or yield).
  • Rationalize alarms based on impact and necessity.
  • On-Site Engineering Support

  • Evaluate and update alarm configurations directly on the floor.
  • Work hands-on with equipment such as freezers (high-high / low-low alarms), HVAC systems, and fermenters.
  • Ensure licensed product alarms are properly configured and responded to.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering , Industrial Systems Engineering , or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of equipment processing and alarm systems.
  • Experience with alarm rationalization or similar optimization projects is highly desirable.
