EVENTS & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR (OKLAHOMA CITY, OK)

Advance your career while saving lives. Our Blood Institute is looking for an energetic, positive, multi-tasking Events & Community Engagement Coordinator. This position will support the mission of saving lives through blood donation by leading the strategy, execution, and relationship management of key events and partnerships across Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. This position is responsible for expanding OBI's presence through meaningful outreach to intersecting businesses, conferences, and community audiences. This role ensures that every event is effectively coordinated, mission-focused, and creates a positive and engaging experience for donors, sponsors, and partners. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, able to travel within our service area and passionate about bringing people together to make a lifesaving impact in their community. Location : Oklahoma City, OK

Pay : Competitive pay based on education and / or experience

Days : Monday through Friday (some weekends)

Hours : 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. (May vary)

Qualifications :

  • BA or BS degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in event planning role with major organization
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to provide MVR with zero points with no moving / traffic violations in the past 3 years
  • Meticulous organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; skilled in MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in CMS systems utilized by organization
  • Ability to do public speaking, sales calls, strategic relationship building
  • Must be self-motivated and outstanding communicator
  • Proven experience managing community events, sponsorships, or public outreach initiatives
  • Experience working with public and community partners via telephone, email and formal presentations (small group); confident, dependable, attentive to details with results orientation
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit or mission-driven communications preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve in real time, and maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel within our service area and work flexible hours as needed-includes some nights and weekends.

Primary Responsibilities :

Event Management & Execution : Lead planning and on-site coordination of major recruitment events, public-facing campaigns, community drives, appreciation celebrations, and community engagement events. Maintain support for events in the OKC-metro area, while supporting system-wide initiatives.

  • Coordinate event logistics including setup, signage, equipment, volunteer staffing, and post-event wrap-up.
  • Manage event budgets, vendor relationships, and contracts to ensure cost-effective planning and compliance.
  • Work with internal teams (recruitment, publicity, marketing, and volunteer services) to ensure seamless event execution.

    • Partner & Sponsor Relations :

  • Serve as the main point of contact for event hosts, sponsors, and community partners-providing exceptional communication and support throughout the event process.
  • Support donor appreciation events and recognition activities to build community relationships and retention.

    • Marketing & Communications :

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events, social media content, marketing materials and event communications.

    • Data & Reporting :

  • Track event participation, outcomes, and donor engagement data; prepare post-event reports and recommendations.

    • Community Outreach & Representation :

  • Represent the organization at community events, health fairs, and outreach activities to increase awareness of the importance of blood donation.
