Law Enforcement Investigator II
This is an opportunity to serve as a state law enforcement officer in Florida. Employees demonstrating advanced investigative and critical thinking skills normally excel within this Bureau. Employees are challenged with shifting seamlessly from regulatory investigators to law enforcement officers during their investigative activities. The Bureau seeks applicants interested in investigating complex crimes while deterring underage access to alcoholic beverages, tobacco and nicotine products. These positions require team members to work some nights and weekends as necessary.
Your specific responsibilities include :
- Planning, conducting, and completing criminal, administrative, and civil investigations.
- Conducting minimum age compliance surveys (alcohol and tobacco), preparing work plans involving the public and other government agencies to reduce or eliminate non-compliance, and completing planned activities making adjustments as needed.
- Independently conducting investigations of stolen or counterfeit cigarette tax stamps; unlawful shipments of deliveries of alcoholic beverages or tobacco products into the State; non-tax paid alcoholic beverages, tobacco products and fraudulent applications, tax returns, and records; and unlawful ties between manufacturers or distributors and retailers of alcoholic beverages.
- Preparing well-composed, accurate reports and submitting documentation within specified timeframes.
- Conducting interviews, testifying in official legal proceedings, and participating in cooperative investigations with other agencies.
- Providing training regarding State laws and rules which the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco is responsible for enforcing. Participating in community prevention and education events.
- Enforcing final orders, settlement agreements, and court orders, making arrests, serving warrants, recruiting and documenting informants, and accounting for investigative expenses.
- Planning, conducting, and completing inspections of businesses licensed to sell or serve alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, to promote compliance.
- Participating in training as required or assigned and properly maintaining issued equipment.
- Maintaining familiarity with the division's written policies and procedures, departmental legal opinions, statutory changes, rules, agency directives, and court decisions.
- Performing other related duties and participating in state declared emergency operations as assigned which may involve extended travel outside of the assigned area in the event of activation.
- Maintaining proper physical conditioning to perform the duties of a sworn law enforcement officer.

Holding a current active Florida Law Enforcement Officer certification.Having a minimum of 2 years of sworn law enforcement experience.Possessing and maintaining a valid State of Florida Driver's License.Residing within 70 air miles of the Orlando District Office at the time of employment.Passing a law enforcement level 2 background screening.Successfully completing an internal training program.Having a safe driving history.
