The Analytics and Real-Time Intelligence Center (ARTIC); comprised of the Analytical Services Unit (ASU) and Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC), a civilian unit coordinating with VBPD to ensure the safety of Virginia Beach communities. The unit is seeking a Police Services Manager who will maintain responsibility for data concepts and principles throughout the Department; or, as Command Duty Manager, will monitor, oversee, coordinate, and lead ARTIC operations after-hours and weekends.

Responsibilities include :

• Review and adjust unit activities and operations based on statistical data and reports to ensure the most effective and efficient deployment of resources.
• Develop strategic initiatives for the Department and ensure integration of ARTIC operations into the strategic initiatives, goals, and objectives of the Police Department
• Collect data, perform analyses, and apply audience / stakeholder insight to structure evidence-based recommendations and work products. Execute design-led approaches to complex problems involving people, processes, and systems.
• Meet and confer with other sections of the Department, other City departments, and outside agencies (state, federal, sister cities) to coordinate operations or resolve problems.
• Oversee departmental and RTCC strategic planning.
• Evaluate performance levels of subordinates and develop employee development plans and appropriate reports and documentation of employee recognition and corrective action, including action plans, mediation, mentoring, and coaching.

Traffic Violations : Any conviction of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, refusal to take blood or breath test, eluding police, racing, or leaving the scene of an accident within the last 5 years.

Drugs : Any involvement in the sale of illegal drugs as an adult. Any illegal use or possession of any illegal drug, including but not limited to heroin, cocaine, hallucinogens, or any derivative thereof (except marijuana) within the last five years. Illegal possession of anabolic steroids within the last 36 months.
