Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes for cable and wire harness assemblies, box builds, and related products. This role requires hands-on involvement with production, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration between engineering, quality, and operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and implement manufacturing processes and assembly instructions for cable and wire harness assemblies.
- Design and optimize tooling, fixtures, and process flows to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering and Production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality of new products.
- Create and maintain work instructions, BOMs, and process documentation within ERP systems.
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and process validation for new builds and customer programs.
- Conduct time studies and process capability analyses to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances or process deviations.
- Evaluate and implement Lean Manufacturing principles, PFMEA, and 5S initiatives to enhance operational excellence.
- Coordinate with suppliers and customers to address technical issues and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Provide technical training and support to production staff to maintain process consistency and quality standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).3-7 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, ideally within cable assembly, wire harness, or electronics manufacturing.Strong understanding of assembly documentation, IPC standards (e.g., IPC / WHMA-A-620), and production control methods.Proficient with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD tools for fixture and process design.Experience with Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, and process validation in a low-to-medium volume production environment.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.ERP / MRP system experience (e.g., Epicor, SAP, or similar) preferred.Knowledge of ISO 9001 and / or AS9100 quality management systems a plus.Why Join
