Technical Training Manager
Reports To : Director of Technical Operations
Organizational Unit : Underwriting Solutions - Commercial Lines
Underwriting Supervisory Responsibility : Yes, Technical Training Team
Collaboration : upper management, other technical staff, and product development; with home office and field managers; with Field Representatives; with customer service and customers
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Technical Training Team in designing and delivering training programs across core disciplines, including SCOPES, Automatic Sprinkler Systems, and Commercial Lines Underwriting.
Oversee the development and delivery of ongoing and refresher training for field representatives and clients.
Create and manage interactive, on-demand eLearning modules tailored to Verisk Survey Services personnel and customers.
Proactively identify emerging training needs and develop responsive solutions.
Collaborate with Regional Vice Presidents, Managers, and Mentors to address performance gaps and ensure high-quality output across individuals and divisions.
Support divisional leadership in interpreting and applying technical standards, procedures, and schedules.
Update and maintain currency of training materials.
Partner with Product Development, Data Quality, and Risk Engineering teams to align training with evolving business needs.
Ensure the Technical Training Team meets all objectives and delivers consistent, high-impact training solutions.
Qualifications
Industry Experience : Minimum of 10 years in insurance or related fields, with a focus on commercial property underwriting, risk management, and loss control.
Training Expertise : At least 12 years of experience delivering training on SCOPES Rating and Commercial Lines surveys.
Leadership Background : Proven experience managing small to mid-sized teams.
Technical Knowledge : Deep understanding of fire prevention, fire protection engineering, suppression systems, and modern construction technologies, including fire detection and protection systems.
Training Development : Strong ability to design and implement technical training programs related to specific-property loss control and associated disciplines.
Instructional Skills : Skilled in delivering both in-person and virtual training sessions, including the creation of multimedia eLearning content.
Communication Proficiency : Exceptional written, verbal, and listening skills, with the ability to convey both simple and complex concepts clearly.
Subject Matter Expertise : Demonstrated capability to act as a technical resource and subject matter expert.
Project Management : Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
Travel Flexibility : Willingness and ability to travel within the United States as needed.
Education : Bachelors degree from a four-year accredited institution or equivalent experience.
