Technical Lead

Reports to : Director of Engineering

Employment Type : Full Time

Work Location This role is fully remote and open to candidates across all 50 U.S. states.

If you're located in the Greater Denver, Colorado area, youll also have optional access to our office in the Denver Tech Center (DTC).

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, collaborative Tech Lead to drive the technical direction, execution, and continuous improvement of a high-performing engineering team. As a Tech Lead, you will provide both technical leadership and people guidance, ensuring delivery of robust, scalable, and innovative solutions that align with our business goals. This is a cross-functional leadership role providing technical continuity and oversight across AI, Data, Frontend, API, and Backend Platform teams ensuring alignment, integration, and progress across all moving parts.

Our core backend platform tech stack includes :

  • .NET Core (C#) (for high-performance, business-critical gRPC microservices, REST APIs, and event-driven services)
  • TypeScript (Express.js) (for microservices, backend-for-frontend (BFF) layers, and services requiring rapid iteration or close integration with the frontend)
  • Docker and Kubernetes (for containerization and orchestration)
  • AMPQ and event-driven architectures (for pub / sub and task queues)
  • React + TypeScript (with Next.js) for building user interfaces.
  • Storybook for our design system and component library.
  • Terraform (for infrastructure as code)
  • Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana (ELK) & OpenTelemetry (for observability and monitoring)
  • GitHub Actions (for CI / CD)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Drive architecture, design, and implementation of high-quality, scalable solutions
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, rapid iteration, and continuous learning
  • Ensure engineering rigor, code quality, and documentation standards are met
  • Partner closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver integrated features
  • Lead technical investigation, discovery, and adoption of new technologies and best practices
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term technical vision and reduction of technical debt
  • Champion security, privacy, and compliance in all engineering activities
  • Facilitate clear communication, knowledge sharing, and effective documentation within the team
  • Support team growth through coaching, feedback, and skills development
  • Core Qualities & Skills

  • Strong programming skills in .Net C#.
  • Proficiency with API protocols and communication patterns (REST, gRPC)
  • Experience with gateway proxy patterns, load balancing, and service mesh architectures
  • Experience with low-latency, high-throughput, and high-availability system design
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering complex projects
  • Strong collaboration and alignment skills across disciplines
  • Willingness to learn, share knowledge, and adapt to evolving technologies
  • Deep technical expertise in backend platform development and one additional relevant domain(s) (AI, Data, UI)
  • System design skills and awareness of technical debt and tradeoffs
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Comfort with ambiguity, discovery, and rapid change
  • Commitment to engineering excellence, security, and responsible practices
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on engineering experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role
  • Track record of architecting and delivering scalable, reliable systems
  • Experience with modern development practices (CI / CD, automated testing, code reviews)
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineers
  • Experience working in cross-functional, agile teams
  • Highly Desirable

  • Experience automating backend workflows and integrating with AI / LLM systems, frameworks, or services
  • Experience using GenAI to accelerate the software development lifecycle, including behavior-driven development, automated test generation, and shift-left quality practices
  • Experience thinking holistically about systems, platforms, and productsnot just features or code
  • Experience thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and balancing rapid delivery with technical excellence
  • Experience leading or working with distributed, multidisciplinary teams

    Compensation : The final salary for this role will be determined based on a combination of factors including relevant experience, performance during interviews, and results from applicable assessments.

    This position is bonus eligible.
