The Opportunity :

Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a part-time Ophthalmologist (20 hours per week) to join our multi-specialty vision clinic in Roxbury, MA. This position is ideal for a skilled clinician committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered eye care in a community-based, outpatient setting. You'll work alongside optometrists, technicians, and administrative staff in a supportive, mission-driven environment dedicated to advancing health equity.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose ocular diseases and disorders
  • Conduct ophthalmic surgeries including cataract, glaucoma, corneal, vitreoretinal, and oculoplastic procedures
  • Prescribe and administer medications, corrective lenses, and ophthalmologic therapies
  • Perform laser procedures and other treatments for a range of eye conditions
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and educate patients on preventive eye care
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide coordinated care and make specialist referrals as needed
  • Requirements :

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts
  • Current BLS certification
  • Proven clinical experience as an Ophthalmologist
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork abilities
  • Expert knowledge of eye diseases, anatomy, and ophthalmic procedures
