For this role specifically, we are seeking an individual to help support high-impact, civic tech within the federal government.

We're looking for a Data Engineer who loves building scalable, high-impact data systems that power analytics, AI, and business decisions. You'll design and maintain robust pipelines on Databricks, orchestrate transformations using dbt, and help shape a modern data lakehouse architecture that's clean, reliable, and fast. If you enjoy working at the intersection of engineering and analytics — where clean SQL meets distributed data systems — you'll fit right in.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines on Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, SQL Warehouse)
• Develop and manage dbt models for data transformation, testing, and documentation
• Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business partners to translate raw data into actionable insights
• Optimize data workflows for performance, cost, and scalability
• Implement data quality, lineage, and CI / CD best practices using Git and modern orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect)
• Help evolve our lakehouse and semantic modeling layer to support analytics and AI use cases
• Mentor junior engineers and code reviews
• Clearly communicate technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver solutions in agile environments

Salary Range

We are committed to offering a competitive salary for this position, with an estimated range of $110k to $165k annually. Please note that this range is intended to provide a general idea of what to expect; however, the final offer may vary based on experience, skills, and other factors. The stated range is not a guarantee and is subject to change.
