The Supported Living Aid (SLA) provides personalized assistance to individuals with unique abilities who require help with tasks such as preparing meals, doing light housekeeping, and laundry. Work is performed in various settings depending on the needs of the care recipient and may include locations such as their home and out in the community. Provides overall personal support to persons we serve by teaching skills that foster independence and community integration as directed and guided by the person’s Individual Service Plan (ISP)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Behavioral Development : Serves as a role model and mentor, demonstrating desired behaviors and coaching by using approved techniques and strategies; in accordance with the ISP may use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to ensure everyone’s safety. Must be able to work as part of a team to achieve positive outcomes for the client and programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities : This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Education and / or Experience : High School Diploma or equivalent.
Language Skills : Ability to read well and understand written documents and instructions in the English language. Ability to write well and clearly in English on all reports and correspondence. Must have excellent ability to professionally communicate effectively with customers, clients, supervisors, and other employees.
Mathematical Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning Ability : Ability to solve problems with a variety of variables in standardized situations and apply common sense solutions that comply with organizational policies. Ability to understand and follow through on instructions furnished in either oral, written, or diagram form.
Computer Skills : Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office on a Windows based computer system.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Ability to complete and maintain all required training certifications in accordance with all organizational, County, State, and Federal regulations.
Driving Requirements : This position requires the employee to be able to drive for work purposes and he or she must maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. This position may require the use of the employee’s personal vehicle. Driving of 15 passenger vans and lift buses is required in Programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to listen and speak in English, smell; stand and walk; and use his or her hands to finger, handle, and touch. The employee is regularly required to reach above his or her shoulders; climb or balance, stoup, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. If the lift is greater, the employee is required to get assistance.
