Description :
Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process within established standards and practices.
Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients.
Applies cardiac monitoring and intervention techniques.
Handles sedation and pain management effectively.
Performs chest tube care and insertion as required.
Administers medication and provides pre and post cardiac catheterization care.
Manages TPN, PPN, KODA access, and central lines effectively.
Administers specialized IV drips and performs titration.
Conducts IV therapy and IVADD waiver testing.
Executes transfusion therapy and information management.
Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcomes.
Consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care.
Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients and re-assessments as per policy.
Provides individualized, age-specific care that supports homeostatic regulation, hemodynamic monitoring, and physiological functioning.
Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious / spiritual needs of patients and families.
Functions as a patient advocate.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
Interprets data about the patient’s status to identify age-specific needs.
Involves patients and families in the formation of an individualized and mutually agreed upon plan of care.
Reviews, revises, updates, and resolves the plan of care daily.
Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates the effectiveness of learning.
Includes family in teaching as appropriate.
Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care.
Allocates and monitors the work of others as necessary.
Assists physicians with procedures as needed.
Responds promptly to changes in workload to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.
Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes and processes.
Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature review, and workshops.
Maintains the operation of patient care equipment and ensures an adequate stock of supplies.
Demonstrates flexibility and organizational skills while functioning under stress.
Meets all departmental specific competencies.
Performs housekeeping duties and assists with the transportation of patients when needed.
Adheres to dress code and medical facility policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel guidelines.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Serves as a team leader and role model for other staff members.
