POSITION SUMMARY
The Credit and Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing the credit department and managing the company’s credit policies and procedures to minimize financial risk while maximizing sales opportunities. This role involves evaluating the creditworthiness of customers, making credit decisions, and leading a team of credit analysts. The Credit and Collections Manager has strong leadership skills, extensive experience in credit management, and a thorough understanding of financial analysis and risk assessment. The Credit and Collections Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization maintains a healthy balance between credit risk and customer satisfaction. This position is also expected to support the overall operation of Form Services, Inc., when needed. Certain tasks maybe asked that do not fall into the essential functions of this job.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Credit Policy Development :
- Develop and implement comprehensive credit policies and procedures to ensure effective risk management and compliance with regulations.
- Monitor and update credit policies based on industry trends and changes in economic conditions.
- Collaborate with senior management to establish credit limits and terms that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
Credit Evaluation and Approval :
Oversee the credit evaluation process, including analyzing credit applications and financial statements to assess customer creditworthiness.Make informed credit decisions and approve or deny credit requests based on established guidelines and risk assessments.Conduct regular reviews of existing credit accounts and recommend adjustments to credit limits as necessary.Team Leadership :
Lead, mentor, and develop the credit team, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.Assign tasks and projects to team members, ensuring that workload is balanced and deadlines are met.Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to promote professional growth.Risk Management :
Identify and assess potential credit risks within the customer portfolio and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and coordinate collections efforts for overdue accounts.Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to address any credit-related inquiries or issues.Reporting and Analysis :
Prepare and present regular reports on credit portfolio performance, including delinquency rates, credit exposures, and trends.Analyze financial data to provide insights into credit risk and make recommendations for improvements.Stay updated on industry standards and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices in credit management.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Proficiency in credit management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis methods.Construction industry experience preferred.Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is a plus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, management, and external stakeholders.Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial audiences.Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all credit-related analyses and reports.A proactive approach to work, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CBA, CICP) is preferred.5-7 years of experience in credit management, finance, or a related role, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.Extensive knowledge of credit evaluation processes, financial analysis, and risk assessment techniques.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer. Manual dexterity for using standard office equipment, including computers and phones. Visual and auditory ability to perform essential functions, including reading financial documents and communicating with team members. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds occasionally.
