The role is both strategic and hands-on, involving market analysis, negotiation, and logistics management. The ideal candidate will be able to identify new business opportunities, nurture leads, and ensure positive engagement with vendors throughout the sales cycle. Responsibilities :
- Supplier management - Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure the highest quality ingredients and materials at the most competitive prices, including vetting new vendors and ensuring current ones meet performance and food safety standards.
- Negotiation - Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable purchasing agreements for the company.
- Inventory and order management - Monitor inventory levels and place purchase orders based on sales forecasts and production needs to prevent shortages or overstocking making sure of timely delivery; maintain accurate and precise records of purchase, prices and supplier performance; maintain master vendor book; collaborate with all departments to align purchasing strategies with company goals.
- Quality assurance - Coordinate with quality assurance teams to verify that all incoming products adhere to strict food safety and company quality standards.
- Market analysis - Stay informed on market trends, ingredient pricing, and supply chain developments to make informed purchasing decisions and establish minimums for every item to make sure that stock never runs too low.
- Cost analysis and budgeting - Track spending, analyze costs, and provide reports to management to support financial forecasting and decision-making.
- Problem resolution - Address and resolve issues with deliveries, including late shipments, incorrect orders, or defective products.
- Record Keeping - Verify receipts of items by company, items received to items ordered; introduce all info into ERP system; keep information accessible by sorting and filing documents; secure approved Requisition forms and maintain master list; create Purchase Orders and maintain master list.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in business, agricultural or food science or supply chain management.Minimum 5 years as a Purchasing Agent in food manufacturingKnowledge of food safety protocols, such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is preferred.Proficiency with procurement or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.Proficiency with QuickBooks.Note : Qualified candidates will be contacted within 2 business days of application.
