Summary :
As a Dialysis Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering safe and high-quality patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will actively engage in developing and implementing personalized care plans, providing both direct and indirect care throughout the dialysis treatment process.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of dialysis equipment and supplies, adhering to hospital and departmental policies. Your documentation in the medical records will need to be accurate, timely, and reflective of patient outcomes, ensuring we provide high-value, sustainable dialysis care.
Responsibilities :
- Meet expectations outlined in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Practice appropriate hand hygiene and use of PPE, ensuring a clean and disinfected working environment.
- Operate dialysis equipment safely and effectively, documenting all actions and changes in the medical record.
- Follow protocols for water treatment procedures and electrolyte addition according to physician orders.
- Conduct pre- and post-dialysis assessments to monitor patient conditions including weight, vital signs, and lab reviews.
- Collect lab specimens as per physician orders and organizational guidelines.
- Initiate, monitor, and conclude each dialysis treatment per established procedures.
- Handle dialysis-related complications and emergencies according to policy, obtaining necessary approvals for lab cultures when needed.
- Administer medications during dialysis, including PRN medications and blood products, following organizational policies.
- Ensure timely transport of patients to and from dialysis treatments, helping to avoid care delays.
- Assist in developing personalized plans of care for each patient.
- Verify treatment safety by conducting required equipment safety checks.
- Accurately enter charges for patient care, ensuring documentation aligns with departmental procedures.
- Manage time efficiently to maintain smooth workflow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements : Education / Skills
Associate's degree in nursing required.Bachelor's degree in Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Experience
1 year of dialysis experience required.1 year of acute clinical experience as a registered nurse preferred.Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Emergency Room (ER), or Medical-Surgical experience preferred.Clinical patient care experience in a relevant setting preferred.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
RN license in the state of employment or compact is required.BLS certification is required.ACLS certification is required.PALS certification is needed at CHRISTUS Children's Hospital.In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all associates are required to obtain the necessary certifications for their positions within the specified time frame.
Work Schedule : 7AM - 7PM
