Payroll Tax Operations Manager
In this role, you will oversee the implementation and stabilization of payroll tax operations across North America, with a primary focus on the United States. You will manage employment tax compliance activities, operational logistics, and high-volume case resolution, while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires autonomy, strong decision-making, and the ability to balance tactical execution with strategic oversight. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders across HR, Payroll, Legal, and Accounting to drive accuracy, timeliness, and compliance, while also identifying opportunities for process improvements and risk mitigation. Required Qualifications
- At least 5+ years of experience in employment tax compliance
- Significant prior professional work experience with demonstrated understanding employment tax processes, regulatory compliance and / or operations / service-oriented environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to organize and analyze data
- Fluent in English knowledge both verbal and written.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge of employment tax regulations

Manage operational logistics for a payroll tax function supporting 18,000+ employees across 30 company entities.Stabilize operations in a high-demand environment through decision making, risk-based prioritization, and streamlined execution.Oversee the implementation of employment tax compliance activities within People Operations.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment tax regulations through development and monitoring of audit controls in the payroll platform and will integrations.Manage and resolve employee inquiries with a high value on world class customer service.Manage and resolve inquiries from taxing authorities with a focus on timeliness and risk prioritization.Partner with internal tax, payroll, and compliance stakeholders to support employment tax audits and settlements, including preparation and timely decision-making in relation to audit discussions.Develop and implement best practices for the execution of employment tax compliance activities across the region.Provide operational guidance and support to payroll vendor teams, including training on appropriate pay input parameters.Collaborate with Finance, Legal, HR, and other internal functions to ensure employment tax compliance is fully integrated into People Operations processes and initiatives.Design, implement, and track key metrics to monitor operational health and risk, proactively addressing leadership needs and providing visibility into compliance performance.Identify and drive continuous process improvements using LEAN methodology and other efficiency frameworks.Maintain high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and quality to ensure compliance with all relevant legal and tax policy requirements.Relocation Assistance Provided : No
