Job Summary and Qualifications

The Cath Lab Tech performs a variety of technical procedures that require rational, independent judgment and initiative. The role is focused on performing standard diagnostic and interventional protocols to meet departmental goals, with an emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

What You Will Do in This Role

As a special procedures tech, you will assist physicians during interventional cardiovascular procedures, including scrubbing and setting up the sterile field. You will also administer contrast media and other medications according to age and weight guidelines.

Key responsibilities include :

Starting and maintaining IV access and monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures.

Preparing patients by reviewing their medical history and positioning them correctly.

Operating and maintaining imaging and lab equipment and reporting any malfunctions.

Accurately documenting procedures in Meditech and verifying imaging in PACS .

Interpreting test results and recognizing and correcting any artifacts or recording errors.

Handling and disposing of radioactive waste in compliance with safety regulations.

Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

What Qualifications You Will Need

Candidates must have one of the following :

A current license or registry certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or the ability to obtain this certification before hire.

OR a current license or registry from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ( ARRT ) as a Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)].

Additional requirements :

BLS certification required.

Completion of ACLS training within six months of hire.

Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, guests, and other staff.

A minimum of one year of experience working in a Cath Lab or EP Lab is strongly preferred.

New graduates of RCIS programs will also be considered.
