Controller Position
Our client is a wealth management family office seeking an experienced controller to lead and manage our accounting, financial operations, and related administrative functions. Key responsibilities include :
- Maintain complete and accessible corporate documents; ensure compliance and collaborate with legal counsel on updates.
- Manage all HR functions including payroll, PTO tracking, and benefits administration; foster positive office culture.
- Oversee office leases, insurance, utilities, equipment contracts, and annual operating budgets.
- Implement and maintain robust data privacy and financial control systems; coordinate with IT providers and research new software.
- Supervise cash receipts / disbursements, bank reconciliations, cash flow reports, and investment account reconciliations; resolve accounting issues.
- Reconcile bank statements and collaborate with owners and banking partners on cash management.
- Track investment capital commitments and report quarterly performance; suggest improvements.
- Manage charitable giving, estate planning gifts, and related tax reporting.
- Coordinate annual tax return preparation for individuals, trusts, and entities; compile documentation, review returns, and ensure timely filing.
- Manage tax notices, refunds, and quarterly payment projections across jurisdictions.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management is preferred.Strong expertise in partnership tax, commercial real estate investments, and investment account management.Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail and follow-through.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and accounting software.Proven ability to manage relationships with clients, stakeholders, and third-party vendors.Demonstrated leadership and team management skills to foster a collaborative and results-driven environment.Familiarity with real estate development, trust accounting, and estate settlement processes is highly desirable.
