Educational Leadership-P12 Administration

Assistant Professor

Tenure-Track

Fall 2026 (August 2026)

The Kremen School of Education and Human Development at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State), invites applicants for a tenure-track, academic year position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, working in the P12 Administration and Doctoral Programs in Educational Leadership. The successful candidate will teach graduate students at the master's and doctoral degree levels; advise students in cohort expectations, fieldwork, and culminating experiences, including doctoral dissertations; supervise administrator internships; conduct research and write grants in the field of educational leadership; and engage in service-related activities in the field, community, and across the university setting.

Fresno State is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI). The university has a strong history of service and preparation of educators since the institution's founding as a Normal School in 1911. The Kremen School of Education and Human Development has been nationally accredited since 1954, offering 34 distinct credentials, many master's degree programs, as well as an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. Fresno State holds R2 Status, Doctoral University - High Research Activity, in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

The Department of Educational Leadership faculty prepares candidates to effectively lead in educational organizations in the Central Valley of California and beyond. Our graduates serve in leadership roles in diverse educational settings such as public and private schools, colleges, universities, and other related educational agencies. We offer three graduate programs: the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, the Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL), and the P12 Administration Program. The P12 Administration Program specifically integrates a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration (ELA) with the California Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, which is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and nationally by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP).

The Fresno State P12 Administration Program advances the next generation of equity-driven school administrators in the Central Valley through coursework and embedded fieldwork experiences. This model includes high expectations, mastery learning, and cohorts of individuals currently employed in the educational setting. The program consists of a three-semester sequential progression and is based on the California Administrator Performance Expectations. Candidates are expected to apply theoretical and scholarly concepts, knowledge, and leadership skills in leading schools and districts.

  1. An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in educational leadership, or organizational leadership with emphasis at the P12 level, or other related area from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.

  3. Expertise that contributes to our understanding of P12 educational leadership, including (but not limited to): school, district, or community leadership; school improvement; and/or organizational development.

Application Procedures: To ensure full consideration, applicants should submit all application materials by the review date. The committee may elect to review applications submitted after the review date. This position automatically closes on March 31, 2026. Note: All positions at Fresno State are subject to funding availability.
