Description :

We are currently working on a scope for this unit.

It has been functioning as an overflow department.

The department opens and closes based on the needs to offload the emergency department and staffing availability.

Currently, it is staffed with a resource pool and others reassigned from different departments.

Going forward, we are looking to hire specifically for this department.

This does not imply that someone would never be reassigned elsewhere.

It is a 12-bed medical surgical department.

Ratios would not be higher than 1 : 6 if the department is at capacity.

Cancellation policy allows for two shifts per 13-week contract.

Charting system used is EPIC.
