Responsibilities
The position is specifically assigned to the College Computing Services (CCS) unit within the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering (Engineering). CCS is responsible for information technology support for Engineering and its affiliated research centers.
This position has a primary focus of supporting the administration of the Canvas LMS and related tools for the College of Engineering, under the direction of the LMS Administrator. Engineering has its own dedicated instance of Canvas, with unique requirements due to the needs of the joint college.
Performs basic LMS Course Management functions. Assists in the creation and setup of Engineering courses in the Engineering Canvas instance each semester. Generate and submit the FAMU student list for course evaluations to FSU for each semester. Manages the subaccounts and terms in the Engineering Canvas instance.
Provides routine administrative support for the Canvas Engineering instance. Maintains basic knowledge of all LMS tools and features. Works with resources at both FAMU and FSU to address LMS-related issues. Manages the daily operations of the LMS. Generates basic reports using Canvas analytics.
Provides basic Engineering Canvas support to students and instructors. Process requests for course development sites. Processes requests for adding / removing users from Canvas courses and organizations.
Creates announcements and email communications related to Canvas updates / changes. Handles Teaching Assistant Requests. Maintains LMS documentation.
Assists with IT Procurement and E-Waste disposal processes on an as-needed basis. Provides excellent, responsive service to our college customers (faculty, staff, and students) when they contact our office. Assists with special projects and other duties as needed.
Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and four years' experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.
Preferred Qualifications
Solid experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Experience with Canvas LMS
