Technical Support Specialist – Gate Operators & Access Control Systems

Schedule : Monday – Friday, 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Support Specialist to provide expert phone and in-person support to distributors, dealers, and end users for our gate operator and access control systems.

This position involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, assisting with installation support, and working closely with our engineering team to resolve technical challenges in the field.

Note : This is NOT an IT computer support position . This role focuses on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting for physical gate and access systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support via phone and email to dealers, installers, and end users.
  • Troubleshoot issues with gate operators, access control, and related low-voltage systems.
  • Support installation and setup of new systems.
  • Work with Engineering and Product Support teams to research and resolve field issues.
  • Document service calls in the Tech Ticket system.
  • Use the Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB) system to identify and recommend replacement parts.
  • Assist customers in the Will Call Department with questions and product pickups.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach at all times.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade school or equivalent experience .
  • General knowledge of electricity, electronics, or low-voltage systems.
  • Experience with gate operators, access control, or security systems highly .
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical equipment.
  • Comfortable using Windows-based software and basic computer functions (TCP / IP converters, COM ports, etc.).
  • Excellent phone communication and customer service skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.
  • NOTE : This is not an IT Computer Support Position.

    Education :

    Requires a high school diploma. General knowledge of electricity and electronics.

    Experience and Background :

    Experience in Access Control, Card Access Systems, Vehicular Gate Systems or telephone equipment is beneficial but not a requirement. Product training is provided.
