About The Position

Experience : CVOR experience, Cardiothoracic experience (CABG, Valve replacements, VATS, Robotic chest procedures)

License : Required certifications in surgical technology

Certifications : NCCT Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C), OR-Certified Surgical Technologist - NBSTSA or National Healthcareer Association

Must-Have : CVOR experience

Description :

Under general direction, observes and practices sterile technique.

Maintains asepsis and anticipates and assists the surgeon as needed.

Actively participates in patient care and safety.

Utilizes OR supplies conservatively and operates as a team member of the OR staff.

Follows infection control policies and procedures and demonstrates expertise in surgical scrub technique.

Adheres to principles of sterile technique preoperatively and intra-operatively.

Assists the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, and passing of instruments and related items.

Anticipates the surgeon’s need for instruments, sutures, and equipment.

Maintains an organized operative field at all times by keeping instruments clean and in their proper place.

Keeps an accurate sponge, tape, needle, dissector, and instrument count.

Prepares for cases by assembling supplies and equipment per preference cards and identifies conflicts or problems.

Cares appropriately for instruments and supplies after each case.

Provides a safe surgical environment for the patient, identifying potential hazards.

Displays knowledge of potential hazards within the operating room.

Utilizes experienced OR staff as a resource and acts as a resource for new OR personnel.

Assists in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the direction of the surgeon.

Handles and identifies specimens per policy.

Expedites the effective and efficient turnover of the OR between cases.

Takes rotating call duty.

Performs additional responsibilities as requested.

Schedule requires up to three shifts of call per week, ranging from eight to sixteen hours, and one working weekend every four weeks with a call shift following the work shift.
