Intermediate Designer

Noa Design + Construction

Location : Oakland, CA, US (remote possible)

Pay : $75,000 - $85,000 annually

We are seeking a talented and self-motivated Intermediate Level Designer to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a designer who has a strong foundation in residential design and is ready to take on more responsibility in both design development and project coordination. You will work closely with senior staff and project managers to help develop and document custom homes from schematic design through construction administration.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the design team on the development of architectural and interior concepts.
  • Produce detailed construction drawings and documentation sets (AutoCAD).
  • Lead drafting and design efforts on portions of projects with limited oversight.
  • Support design coordination with consultants, vendors, and contractors.
  • Participate in and help lead client presentations and design meetings.
  • Assist with permitting and regulatory compliance documentation as needed.
  • Select materials, finishes, and fixtures appropriate to the project style and budget.
  • Conduct site visits, field measurements, and respond to internal RFIs during construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or related field.
  • 3–6 years of professional experience in residential architecture or design-build.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; Rhino or Sketchup for modeling.
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Experience producing detailed construction drawings and familiarity with building codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong design sensibility with an eye for materials, proportion, and detail.
  • Portfolio demonstrating experience with custom residential projects.
  • Preferred But Not Required

  • Prior experience with high-end or luxury single-family homes.
  • Familiarity with the construction process and working in a design-build environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and materials.
