General
- The Resident Engineer – Electrical will be stationed on site in Thailand to supervise and ensure the successful execution of electrical works for a mission-critical data centre project.
- This role involves overseeing installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with design intent, quality standards, and operational requirements for high-availability facilities.
Supervision
Oversee the installation and quality of electrical systems including but not limited to power, lighting, cabling system, earthing, lightning protection system, ELV, BMS systems.Ensure all works meet the project's design intent, performance criteria and critical facility standards.Manage and conduct the inspections for electrical works, including but not limited to genset, power modules, cabling works, underground works, power, lighting, cabling system, earthing, lightning protection system, ELV, BMS etc.Resident Engineer (RE) shall compile and organize all relevant inspection documentation in accordance with the following requirements :Master Site Plan indicating inspection coverage areas
Mark inspection areas and indicate completion statusInspection areas shall be clearly marked on the relevant site or floor plansFor each area, the current percentage of physical work completion shall be indicated to reflect construction progress at the time of inspection.This visual representation supports effective tracking of inspection coverage and ensures alignment with construction milestonesDetailed Area or Floor Plans reflecting specific inspection zones or components
Detailed Mark-up of defect locationsUse local or zoomed-in drawings to mark the exact locations of any defects found.Clearly record each defect point with notes and, where needed, link to photos or inspection comments.These marked drawings should be included in the inspection records to support follow-up and rectification.Discipline-specific checklists
To ensure comprehensive and standardized inspection scopeInspections shall be carried out with emphasis on the key items listed in the specialized checklists, in accordance with relevant technical standards.All inspection records shall be completed by the respective discipline consultant engineers, ensuring accuracy and alignment with design intent and quality requirements.Detailed contents of the inspection report – The RE inspection report shall include but be limited to the following :General informationInspection scope and locationSummary of observationsNon-conformities and issues identifiedFollow-up actions and statusReview of submissions (if applicable) Summary of reviewed ACC submittals related to inspected itemsRE remarks and recommendations : Technical comments, risks, or early warnings, any suggestions for design revision or quality improvementAttachments (Photos, marked-up drawings, checklists, issue forms, relevant correspondence)Coordination & Interface Management
Liaise between the design consultants, contractors, and client representatives to resolve technical issues.Attend coordination and progress meetings, providing updates on electrical works status.Quality, Safety & Compliance
Conduct regular inspections to verify workmanship and adherence to specifications.Ensure compliance with Thai building codes, BOI requirements (if applicable), ASHRAE standards, NFPA codes and other relevant regulations.Enforce safety standards in line with project EHS requirements.To perform checks on the materials upon arrival at site.To conduct inspection and review of mock-ups.Documentation and Reporting
Maintain detailed records of inspections, testing, commissioning reports and site instructions.Issue non-conformance reports and follow up on rectification works.Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for electrical works.Problem-solving & Technical Support
Provide on-the-spot technical solutions to ensure timely completion of works without compromising quality or operational integrity.Recommend design or equipment adjustments to improve efficiency, maintainability, and reliability of electrical systems.Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited institution.Licensed / Registered Engineer in ThailandMinimum 8 to 10 years' experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a site-based or resident engineer role.Prior experience in data centres, hospitals, clean rooms, or other mission-critical facilities is highly desirable.Strong knowledge of electrical systems for high-availability operations, redundancy principles, and energy efficiency.Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM tools) and Microsoft Office.Strong communication skills in English and Thai or English and Chinese.DayOne is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
