Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) position with strong LDRP and drip titration skills, requiring a ND or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute care hospital on a combined Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum unit
  • Unit includes 7 L&D beds, 12 postpartum beds, 8 surgical beds, 1 C-section OR, 2 GYN ORs, and 3 triage bays
  • Typical patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines : L&D 1 : 1-2, postpartum 1 : 2-3 couplets, surgical / medical 1 : 3-4
  • Provides care for obstetric, antepartum, and postpartum patients, including high-risk pregnancies and postpartum surgical cases
  • Unit performs all common L&D procedures and handles titratable drips such as Pitocin, magnesium, and occasional insulin
  • GE / Corometrics fetal monitoring systems used
  • Epic EMR used in the unit
  • Schedule consists of 12-hour rotating day and night shifts, with every third weekend required
  • Floating may be required to Peds MS, NICU (feeder-growers), med / surg, PCU, ICU, ED, or psych units as sitter or helping hands
  • Holiday coverage is required as needed
  • Surgical scrubs are provided
  • Responsibilities include comprehensive care across labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, triage, and surgical interventions
  • Charge nurse is present on every shift and may take an assignment; travelers will not be assigned charge roles
  • High standards for patient satisfaction in department
  • Two 12-hour orientation shifts provided on the unit
  • Must not be employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year
  • RTO requests must be submitted up front and are limited to 7 or fewer days in a 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Requirements

  • Active ND or compact RN license required at time of application
  • Minimum 3 years of LDRP experience required
  • Certifications required : BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (Advanced preferred), STABLE
  • Must be able to titrate labor and postpartum drips
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • Willingness to scrub and assist with procedures preferred
  • Must submit 2 professional references, including one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
