American Traveler is seeking a PCU RN with at least one year of stepdown experience, current AZ or compact RN license, and both BLS and ACLS certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within an acute care hospital settingUnit has 14 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 3-4 depending on acuityPatient population includes cardiovascular, surgical, and complex acute care cases such as cardiac surgery recovery, STEMI, NSTEMI, chronic vents, and renal diseaseSpecialized procedures include cardioversion, peritoneal dialysis, chest tubes, and transvenous pacingUtilizes Cerner EMR, Philips cardiac monitors, Medtronic pacemakers, Pyxis medication dispensers, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps12-hour day and night shifts available, with two weekend shifts per pay period requiredFloat required to medical-surgical / telemetry floors, with float to ICU preferredNavy scrubs required as dress codeProvide care to adults recovering from cardiac surgery and procedures, and manage patients with chronic ventilators or complex post-operative needsWill care for patients transferred from the cath lab, those experiencing alcohol withdrawal, and individuals with suicidal ideationTeam is supported by hospitalists and receives fast-paced cardiac and surgical casesFirst day orientation includes sterile technique testing for Foley insertion and central line dressing changesMust adhere to business-appropriate hair color and uniform policiesHoliday coverage may be required as per unit needsReturning travelers are not eligible if previously employed by a CommonSpirit facility within the last year\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license in good standing is required at the time of considerationCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedMinimum one year of PCU / stepdown experience requiredProficiency with EKG interpretation and IV cardiac medication administration requiredExperience with equipment such as Philips cardiac monitors, Medtronic pacemakers, and Pyxis preferredMust pass dysrhythmia exam (Relias) within two attempts prior to contract signingCopy of driver’s license required for considerationCandidates must not have been employed with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, in any capacity within the past yearPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
