Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a PCU RN with at least one year of stepdown experience, current AZ or compact RN license, and both BLS and ACLS certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within an acute care hospital setting
  • Unit has 14 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 3-4 depending on acuity
  • Patient population includes cardiovascular, surgical, and complex acute care cases such as cardiac surgery recovery, STEMI, NSTEMI, chronic vents, and renal disease
  • Specialized procedures include cardioversion, peritoneal dialysis, chest tubes, and transvenous pacing
  • Utilizes Cerner EMR, Philips cardiac monitors, Medtronic pacemakers, Pyxis medication dispensers, Sigma Spectrum IV pumps
  • 12-hour day and night shifts available, with two weekend shifts per pay period required
  • Float required to medical-surgical / telemetry floors, with float to ICU preferred
  • Navy scrubs required as dress code
  • Provide care to adults recovering from cardiac surgery and procedures, and manage patients with chronic ventilators or complex post-operative needs
  • Will care for patients transferred from the cath lab, those experiencing alcohol withdrawal, and individuals with suicidal ideation
  • Team is supported by hospitalists and receives fast-paced cardiac and surgical cases
  • First day orientation includes sterile technique testing for Foley insertion and central line dressing changes
  • Must adhere to business-appropriate hair color and uniform policies
  • Holiday coverage may be required as per unit needs
  • Returning travelers are not eligible if previously employed by a CommonSpirit facility within the last year
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active AZ or compact RN license in good standing is required at the time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum one year of PCU / stepdown experience required
  • Proficiency with EKG interpretation and IV cardiac medication administration required
  • Experience with equipment such as Philips cardiac monitors, Medtronic pacemakers, and Pyxis preferred
  • Must pass dysrhythmia exam (Relias) within two attempts prior to contract signing
  • Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
  • Candidates must not have been employed with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, in any capacity within the past year
  • Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility
