Environmental Professional - Environmental Remediation Program

While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to) :

• Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental, health and safety regulations and / or company policies.
• Assists in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements.
• Finds, evaluates, and prepares contracts for properly licensed hazardous waste disposal firms and monitors waste handling.
• Organizes and equips spill-control teams.
• Writes and updates environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures.
• Prepares environmental impact statements and applies for all new permits and renewals.
• Provides input to federal and state regulators through trade associations and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations.
• Provides general support to the Public Outreach lead with a particular focus on meeting logistics and coordination for Pueblos, Northern New Mexico Citizens' Advisory Board and Regional Coalition of LANL Communities. Also maintenance of the Electronic Public Reading Room, EIMS database, and planning and logistics for open public meetings.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Expert knowledge and ability to develop and apply highly advanced principles, concepts and techniques of analysis and reporting requirements related to NEPA, RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, CAA, TSCA, FIFRA and natural resources laws / regulations, and sufficient practical knowledge of environmental sciences to understand and utilize scientific data.
• Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
• Ability to have major impact on organizational success and productivity, with extensive latitude for independent judgment.
• Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels.
• Ability to contribute functional expertise to business proposal initiatives.
• Ability to develop and lead large-sized projects, including defining scope, objectives and methods.
• Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
• Can be viewed as an expert within a specialty and as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally.
• Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.

Education and Experience Required :

Bachelors' degree in appropriate discipline; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Light Work) :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
