Description : Position Summary
Serenity Therapeutic Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) to join our recovery-focused team. The CPSS will use personal lived experience in recovery from substance use to provide hope, mentorship, and support to individuals on their own recovery journeys. This position plays a key role in promoting empowerment, resilience, and personal growth while assisting beneficiaries in achieving and maintaining long-term recovery.
The CPSS collaborates with clinical staff and community partners to enhance engagement, reduce barriers to care, and support recovery-oriented treatment planning within Serenity Therapeutic Services’ continuum of care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver peer support services consistent with the core values and ethics of the peer support model.
- Use personal recovery experience to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
- Collaborate with the Qualified Professional (QP) to identify personal strengths, areas for growth, and establish a supervision plan.
- Partner with beneficiaries to identify and overcome barriers to accessing community resources, treatment providers, and recovery supports.
- Model and mentor recovery-oriented attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to promote wellness and resilience.
- Encourage beneficiaries to develop a strong recovery identity through open dialogue and shared experiences.
- Identify teachable moments to promote self-awareness, interpersonal growth, and personal accountability.
- Teach and model decision-making tools that support healthy lifestyle choices and recovery maintenance.
- Facilitate opportunities for social engagement and community integration.
- Recognize and appropriately respond to emergency or crisis situations, following Serenity Therapeutic Services’ emergency response procedures.
- Assist beneficiaries in navigating healthcare, social service, and legal systems as needed.
- Promote self-advocacy by educating beneficiaries on their human and legal rights and supporting them in exercising those rights.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with agency policies and state regulations.
- Adhere to professional boundaries, confidentiality requirements, and ethical standards in all interactions.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a combination of office, residential, and community settings.Local travel may be required; reliable transportation is essential.Flexible schedule, including some evenings or weekends, may be required based on client and program needs.
